TRANS PECOS endeavors to uncover the plight of the American people affected by a front of industrialization while painting a poetic portrait of Far West Texas. This documentary explores the unexpected alliances that occur within communities when companies put private gain before the public good.
The story follows the recent history of landowners in the Big Bend Region faced with the insurmountable task of exposing the false claim of eminent domain made by Energy Transfer Partners to make a land grab and force the Trans Pecos Pipeline through the landowners’ own backyards. On the heels of this initial land grab that has paved the way for future industrialization, we follow as the region rallies to defend the water table and dark night skies from fracking in the Alpine High oil and gas discovery. Finally, with federal threat of a controversial wall along our southern border, we examine the evolution of eminent domain from an additional angle.
